Visual Merchandising – Going Inside the Store
June 15th, 2010 by adminArranging the products inside your store is basic in the concept of visual merchandising. It is a boon for the business to be knowledgeable in the proper placement of products as this can affect the way customers react to what you are selling. Generally, customers have their attention to the center racks first as they enter your store, then this is diverted to the right side and finally to the left side. Therefore, you should take advantage of this behavior and put products in necessary locations depending on how you want your customers to see them in order.
Fast-moving products should always be placed on eye-level racks. This enables the customer to easily locate and pick this kind of products.
If different brands of a similar product need to share a space in a rack, then the featured brand should stand out by highlighting it. This can be done by elevating it, putting it on the center of the rack, or putting it on the leftmost side of the rack. Accessories and decorations can be added to highlight more of the feature brand. And if applicable, allot a sample product that customers can use to test and have a personal feel of the item.
You can also opt to arrange you products by color. There have been researches that prove that it is appealing for customers to see product arrangements in the pattern of rainbow colors. Many customers find this kind of presentation comfortable for them.
Finally, you can put small and low-priced products near the counter. The reason for this is that customers tend to buy these products on impulse and on the last minute.
